The Pokémon Company really is kicking things off with a bang for the Switch 2 with the game they are releasing as of late, but now, let’s talk Pokémon!
Pokémon Legends Z-A looks to leap onto the Nintendo Switch consoles in October of this year, and for those of you that need hyper-detail – 16th October 2025! The new title in the ever-evolving franchise looks to evolve once more by taking how you battle, with a twist. The twist is in the shape of a mega evolution. Going beyond the limitations of a standard evolution, the mega grants a temporary unleashing of a Pokémon’s hidden energy, which will turn the tide of a battle, at the drop of a ball.
Not just this, during battle, we now get a brand-new feature, a series first, real-time battles. Before, as we know it, during a battle between two of your most powerful little creatures, you were stuck to a turn-based combat system. Now in the heat of a new city, you get real-time battles where, as a trainer, you can move around during combat and, at your command, your adorable buddies will unleash moves to your desire!
If you saw what I said above, yes, a new city, all trainers welcome! Enter Lumiose City, a bustling centre which was created to incorporate both humans and Pokémon to live effortlessly alongside each other. From the concrete jungle to the wild zones situated throughout the city, find wild Pokémon and duel with them in the wild zones against other trainers or other wild Poke friends!
Now, I know, you’re here for the Mega Victreebel, right? Well say no more as the leafy fellow bounces and flaps his way through Lumiose City full of soup! Or shall we say acid. This tricky character has been mega-evolved into a large bulbous acid spitter at its very core as compared to its smaller self, yes, it does move as funny as it looks! The Pokémon Company revealed the newly evolved Pokémon at Gamescom ahead of the lately anticipated title Pokémon Legends. However, not just this, but we get a glimpse into how the game is shaping up and how it’s evolving its own game aside from the wide roster of characters. Introducing new ways to battle and to evolve your cute little friends, the team over at Pokémon have really cooked up something special for the next entry into the ever-lasting franchise, and fans are already excited even without our large leafy friend being announced!
