Earlier today, June 17th, 2025, Game Pass Ultimate members were treated to a couple of highly anticipated game drops in the form of Remedy’s FBC: Firebreak and Stormteller’s Lost in Random: The Eternal Die. Both games have been lovingly crafted but not terribly well publicized as of late, so if you haven’t had a chance to try them out or maybe haven’t heard of them yet, then I’m going to clue you in the best I can.
FBC: Firebreak
FBC: Firebreak is the newest release from Remedy Entertainment, the studio that gave us such classics as Control and Alan Wake. FBC is a cooperative spinoff based in the universe and lore of Control. The game takes place in familiar environments from the 2019 single-player action title, but this time features online first-person shooter PvE gameplay. Set six years after the events of Control, players will step into the protective boots of Federal Bureau of Control employees that survived the original title’s initial murderous Hiss invasion.
Diving into expeditions with multiple phases and objectives, players will be tasked with working together with their partners to overcome the threats that stand in the way of their mission success. The game can be played solo but was designed with co-op mechanics in mind. There are plenty of weapons and perks to unlock through progression, as well as a ton of upcoming free content including new enemies, missions, and equipment releasing over the next year or so. If you like Remedy’s games and think you’d enjoy a first-person shooter set in their connected universe, then hop in today and give FBC: Firebreak a shot.
Lost in Random: The Eternal Die
Lost in Random: The Eternal Die is the newest entry into the gothic fantasy series Lost in Random. This entry thrusts players back into the world of dice rolling and stylized combat, but this time from the perspective of the last game’s antagonist. The standout difference between the games is that The Eternal Die is set up to play as a roguelite rather than the original action-adventure gameplay that players are familiar with from the first title in the series. With a combat system reminiscent of Diablo and a progression system that functions like Hades, this game might turn out to be a Hell of a good time… pun definitely intended.
This game also adds a few new and creative elements in the form of dark twists on games like dice, chess, and more. Though the game starts off with a relatively high learning curve with sometimes frustrating and difficult encounters, as the player progresses, unlocks a handful of upgrades, and gets the hang of the controls and mechanics, the game becomes far more enjoyable and satisfying. The action will provide the player an opportunity to hone their fast-paced combat strategies, the fascinating world and enemies that inhabit it will lend themselves to a sense of both wonder and dread, and the unique gameplay mechanics will keep the player on their toes and feelings as though they are making consistent progress. If you enjoy roguelites and Diablo clones, I’d say you’ll probably feel right at home as you get Lost in Random.
Are you planning on playing either of these games? If you have, what did you think? Was one better than the other? Let us know over on the Discord!
