Last year during the 30th anniversary of Warcraft, Blizzard gave fans something to celebrate the occasion by unveiling remasters of both Warcraft 1&2. The remasters came complete with modern quality of life adjustments, improved UI and UX features, as well as updated graphics and an option to swap to the old graphics akin to the Halo 2 remaster and the more recent Tomb Raider remasters. All legacy custom maps were also made playable through compatibility features.
These remasters are coming to PC Game Pass on June 26th alongside Warcraft 3: Reforged, the not-so-popular re-imagining of Warcraft 3 that left many fans wondering why a simple remaster wasn’t done instead. The uninspiring and technically flawed remake of 3 likely led to the much better received remasters of 1&2 in place of other remakes. Either way, if you’re a returning fan or a first-time visitor to the magical world of Azeroth, now is a great time to get your hands on some classics.
If this addition is any indication as to Microsoft’s plans for releasing Activision Blizzard titles on Game Pass, maybe one day we’ll all get World of Warcraft on our Xbox consoles. Until then we can only dream and give these games a shot, and if they aren’t your style of game, you’ve got Call of Duty: WWII, Little Nightmares II, and Rise of the Tomb Raider to look forward to, releasing soon on Game Pass along with a handful of various indie and sports games.
