Age Of Mythology Retold: Immortal Pillars Review

One of Xbox’s biggest exclusives from last year, drops onto the Playstation 5 today! Thank you to Xbox for providing me the code and early access!

If you know me, then you know Age Of Mythology is one of my favourite games of all time. It was the game that got me into PC gaming! I have been playing the game since I was 9 years old, I am now 31.

I have previously reviewed this game for Steam and Xbox and gave both a 10/10, a must buy! Its truly a fantastic remake and is absolutely worthy of your time!

I talked heavily about the amazing campaign. I also covered the jaw dropping Titans expansion in my earlier review. So let’s focus on what is dropping today.

The Immortal Pillars launches today across PC and consoles. The game is included with the premium edition if you own that already. Alternatively, you can upgrade separately.

I have always been a huge fan of mythology as a whole, this all started with this franchise. I know tons about Greek, Norse and Egyptian thanks to this game. I knew very little about Chinese mythology. I was so excited to dive in and learn as much as I could with this expansion!

So far I have been utterly fascinated by the new Chinese army. They have such a unique twist on how to play them and build your army! Their buildings look fantastic as do all of the units but the myth units really stand out! They’re just so amazing to look at and watch in combat! Each myth unit is so distinctive and is sure to grasp you attention every time!

Lets talk about what is new with this expansion.

Firstly you have access to a whole new pantheon of Gods to choose from in your quest for victory! There are 12 in total, each offering their own advantage in battle to help you turn the tide of war.

The new expansion includes a new 9 level campaign. It helps you learn how to play as this new army. Additionally, it gives you a great understanding of Chinese Mythology as a whole!

There are 7 jaw-dropping new maps for multiplayer. They allow you to further explore the Chinese biomes. Explore the Bamboo Grove. Journey along the Silk Road. Conquer the legendary Great Wall. Create your own cinematic battles!

I will always be overjoyed with new content for this game. It is truly amazing to see its fantastic reception so many years after its original launch! I hope you enjoy this expansion as much as I did!

I was hoping to see some of the haptic feedback features on the dualsense controller. So far, there aren’t any. Since it is launch day there might be a day one patch, I will update here once I know!

10/10 must buy!!
