A movie adaption of Elden Ring looks to be coming to the big screen as Bandai Namco announced they have partnered up with A24 and writer and director Alex Garland to carve out a path to the big screen from the game they crafted, which has been a huge release for the players!
Alex Garland is pretty much a solidified household name when it comes to producing good-quality movies, such as Annihilation, Ex Machina, and Civil War. Along with this, he served with Danny Boyle as a writer on the movies Sunshine, 28 Days Later, and he is also writing for the upcoming 28 Years Later (something I genuinely cannot wait for). So, as we know, Alex is in good stock when it comes to creating and aiding the production of grade A movies. He has also worked on many video games most notably Devil May Cry.

With rumours being toyed with earlier this month, FromSoftware has officially announced the news and partnered with such a heavy weight of a director and writer to boot. However, what is very intriguing is how Hidetaka Miyazaki mentioned wanting to create a movie about Elden Ring (Miyazaki is the games’ director), but he did say he didn’t think he had the “knowledge or the ability to produce something in a different medium”.
Do I think a movie of Elden Ring could do well? Yes, I do. I think this is more so because of the pure beauty of how good CGI is nowadays. Not just this, you partner good CGI with good action set pieces and I think the movie will be awesome. As long as we get the main character dying a few times before actually mastering the roll, roll, attack motion, then I can say it will be a true adaptation! Let’s hope they do right by the casting. No Jack Black please.
Let us know what you think in the comments below! Do you think the movie adaptation will take off? Or do you believe it could be too tricky to adapt?
