Bungie, ah yes, the company which was at the peak of gaming with Halo and now struggles to come up with their own original art style for a game…. To this, Bungie have fallen from the stars of their success days with Halo and even Destiny, but to even think of this? Quite disrespectful to the gamer.
Bungie has reportedly toyed with the idea of a Paid Subscription model for Destiny in the past and even tossed around the thought of removing certain free cosmetics for the players. With the news of this and the recent accusations of art theft, morale has to be dropping at the studio? Right? Yes it has. Morale in the studio has been shelled a little bit because of the mighty Marathon and what speaks as a sad situation really outlines the farcry that Bungie are now to what they once were.

A Gaming journalist by the name of Destin Legarie, who has a solid reputation within the industry, posted a recent video on his YouTube channel – Inside Bungie’s Decline: Former Devs Speak Out where he discussed the ongoing issues at Bungie and the conversations he’s had with ex Bungie employees. Destin claimed “in one meeting, adding a subscription to Destiny was brought up, only to be vehemently shut down by staff”.
He also said that a former employee said “everything happening to Bungie is because of Greed”. This was hugely highlighted by another employee saying “There was a concern about Trails of Osiris PvP armour being too attractive with its glow effect. The worry was that it was too good and would impact Eververse sales.” This lies with the fact that Bungie were thinking about removing free cosmetic items from the players, which, quite frankly, I think is shameful.
As always, I’d say to take this with a pinch of salt, as it is former employees. However, this does not paint Bungie in the best way, and it certainly spells them a bad time paired with problems with going over Marathon and their lack of recent success.
