A Polish publication spotted something of huge interest to Cyberpunk fans when they picked up on Mike Pondsmith speaking with the TVGRY Channel in an interview for the Digital Dragons 2025 event. CD-Action spotted this very smartly and have indeed let us all know the down low on what is happening over at CD Projekt Red for the Cyberpunk sequel.
Pondsmith said in the interview, touched on the topic of Cyberpunk, featuring a new city away from Night City which feels more like “Chicago gone wrong”. When also asked if he was directly involved with the second title named Project Orion, as he was involved with Cyberpunk 2077, he replied “Not as involved directly,” but he indeed gets to see the down low, scripts, how different departments are doing, peek at new cyberware and spend a lot of time with the environment designers for the sequel!

Again we look at what Pondsmith said when he shared more about the sequel, “There’s another city we visit”, which seemed to be a subtle accident of a leak as he said he couldn’t share “any more than that”. Adding to this, he said that Night City still exists. However, in the next instalment we look to be exploring a new setting which gave Pondsmith a “Chicago gone wrong” vibe more than the first Bladerunner vibe we had. However, he stated that he sees it “working” for the next game.
In the next title, the developers are also looking to add a more realistic and reactive crowd system, which would be highly received, I think, as the crowds in the first game sort of exist and sort of don’t, as they don’t seem to react as we think they should!
What do you guys think? Do you guys think the new direction of the city will be welcomed? Or would a Night City vibe have worked again? Let us know in the comments below.
