After a long wait to see where they stand, Fortnite announced that they would blocked from putting Fortnite IOS on the US App store or the Epic Games Store in the EU, as per X (formerly Twitter) – Fortnite. In what is a huge blow to the gaming title, following on from the hope that Epic CEO Tim Sweeney declared that “Fortnite will return to the US iOS App Store next week” on May 1st.
However, this never happened as Apple had launched a review of the game being on the App Store and a long review it was as we have our news coming in as we speak, and that decision is the one that reads above, App Store No Mo.
Whilst there are many ways to gain access to Fortnite, such as Xbox, PlayStation, PC and multiple other instances, it will 100% not be on the App Store anytime soon, which, again as I circle back to what I said, this is a HUGE blow to the market for Epic Games as heading to Mobile would complete the various ways that people have access to the title, and with the title being essentially a top earner and a game that people want to play, this deals a blow to the gut of Epic Games as they can’t give access to the mobile market.
As we previously know, Epic Games and Fortnite have taken Apple to the courts for taking a cut of profits gained outside the app being purchased from the App Store. Not only this, Epic accused Apple of obstructing the IOS submission to have Fortnite on the App Store full stop. Now what will break the straw on the camels back for this to give way so that we can see Fortnite on the Apple Store? At this point, who knows as the dispute seems to be gaining fire between the companies, but as news comes in we will be sure to give you guys updates!
