Naughty Dog or Naughty Don’t?

Naughty Dog has reportedly cancelled a single-player game this year, but another unannounced video game still remains in the works, potentially poised for a 2027 launch, according to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier.

Insider, Daniel Ritchman – as reported on his pay to see Patreon page, Naughty Dog has quietly cancelled said unannounced single-player game earlier this year. The game apparently being worked on had been developed for over a year following the sharp cancellation of The Last of Us Online, as Naughty Dog did not want to turn themselves into a live service-based games studio (this was after another big studio, Bungie, put into context what it would mean for the company and what it could turn in to publicly).

Once again, we look to Daniel as he reckons that there is an unannounced single-player experience being worked on at Naughty Dog, this one being further along rather than being still in its infancy alike to TLOU Online. This one has been in the works for around three years. The director of said game is Shaun Escayg, who came back to Naughty Dog in 2021 after directing what would be the flop known as Marvel Avengers. Shaun was previously credited as the lead cinematic animator on The Last of Us and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, where after he directed Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, which as we know are three beloved games adored by fans for their unique storytelling settings.

There is no further information on the title. However, as previously mentioned, we look set to receive some sort of hope regarding the game in the next couple of years, which is the usual case for any large game that pushes itself into the realm of Triple A! Currently, at Naughty Dog, the focus for them is Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, which is a brand new Sci-Fi IP which was announced at The Game Awards in 2024. The title is being directed by Neil Druckmann, who is Naughty Dog’s president and was the creator of TLOU!

As we conclude this article, will Naughty Dog give us another great IP, or will they bound together the brand new Intergalactic and roll with the punches? Let us know in the comments below and, as always, stay true to gaming as gaming will stay true to you!
