Mafia: The Old Country Released Revealed. OOPS, Wrong Button

Last year at Opening Night Live, we saw our first look into the next iteration of the Mafia series with Mafia: The Old County and a more detailed gameplay revealed at the Game Awards. It appears that someone at 2K or Steam may have hit the green ‘GO’ button a little too early. It appears that, just like last year’s reveal of the game in August, this will also find the game’s release being in the same month as a year later. August 8, 2025, appears to be the tentative release date as posted on the games Steam blog page. At the bottom of the post, “Mafia: The Old Country is available August 8, 2025. Pre-order now for PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, and stay tuned to the official Mafia website for more information.” However, it was quickly removed and now remains as a date of 2025.

On the Steam’s blog post still remains the news of May 8, a developer livestream at PAX East for Mafia: The Old Country at 2pm EST with Hanger 13. New details about the game will be revealed and a behind-the-scenes look at the past, present, and future of the franchise.

“Uncover the origins of organized crime in Mafia: The Old Country, a gritty mob story set in the brutal underworld of 1900s Sicily. Fight to survive as Enzo Favara in this immersive third-person action-adventure. Coming Summer 2025” reads the Steam’s description. Mafia 3 was released back in 2016. It’s certainly been awhile since we’ve seen a new Mafia game and the approach of heading back to the “Old Country” has myself and fans excited.

2K and Take-Two appear to have a stacked year with Mafia: The Old Country seemingly releasing on August 8 and Borderlands 4 in September, but when will the infamous GTA 6 release? It’s been confirmed that GTA 6 will release at some point this year. It will probably be the ending title of the year for 2k and Take-Two. But it still remains the question of when? October? November? GTA 4 released in April 2008, followed by GTA 5 releasing in September 2013. So there is no pattern to follow when it comes to Rockstar releasing their games.

Let us know if you are looking forward to checking out Mafia: The Old County, or if you have any thoughts on when we might just see GTA 6 this year in the comments below.
