Xbox Is Back This Summer With The Xbox Games Showcase and The Outer Worlds 2 Direct

Xbox will be making their return this summer with another Xbox Games Showcase. They will also continue the direct showcase formula that began with Call Of Duty as they look to feature The Outer Worlds 2 at this year’s event.

In a post on the Xbox News Wire, Joe Skrebels, Xbox Wire Editor-in-Chief gave us the breakdown of this year’s event. On June 8th, the Xbox Games Showcase 2025 will be livestreamed on Sunday at 1pm EST and will be immediately followed by The Outer Worlds 2 Direct. Continuing their annual fashion of showcase/direct formats from pervious years.

The annual Xbox Games Showcase will bring us a “look at upcoming titles from across our first-party studios, in addition to incredible new titles from our third-party partners across the globe”, stated by Joe. A livestream-only event of the showcase “following the Showcase, The Outer Worlds 2 Direct will bring you inside the walls of Obsidian Entertainment, revealing new gameplay, details, and developer insights, straight from the people making the sequel to the award-winning, first-person sci-fi RPG.” We first saw a glance of The Outer Worlds 2 at last years Game Awards in the Obsidian teasing fashion.

Once again, Xbox will return to the Summer Game Fest festivities. The Summer Game Fest showcase will take place at the YouTube Theater and throughout the week, featuring upcoming titles for this year and beyond. Xbox has started off the year rather well, but as of late, we don’t know what’s in-store for the rest of the year. Their first party line-up seems solid with Perfect Dark, Gears E-Day, State of Decay 3, Ever Wilds, Fable and more. However, as of right now, there isn’t much lining us up for the remainder of 2025. Rumors have circulated that we could see Gear E-Day this year, but that seems rather unlikely. Fable just revealed they have decided to delay their release once again, pushing Fable into 2026.

What do you hope to see at this year’s Xbox Games Showcase? Let us know in the comments.
