Top 10 comic characters that deserve a game

Lets have a look at some comic book characters that deserve their own game or deserve another chance at having their own game.

  1. 1. Judge Dredd

“I AM THE LAW”, oh boy. If there was ever a character deserving of a new game, it is JUDGE DREDD.

DREDD has never really had much success in videogames, with many being extremely lackluster. The last game we saw him in was Dredd Vs Death. Met with very middling reviews, it launched on PC and Xbox original and overall did not do well at all.

Robocop Rogue City achieved great success. I firmly believe that a Judge Dredd game would also be massively successful in the right hands. I would die with joy if I could dish out the law and explore Mega City One.

2. SPAWN

Another iconic comic character who has not had his own game in well over a decade.

Imagine an open world, third person action role playing game with SPAWN on todays tech? That is a thought that always crosses my mind. Al Simmons deserves another chance.

Mortal Kombat graced us with Spawn’s presence as a dlc character and they absolutely nailed it. I imagine a much darker and violent version of arkham city. Imagine prowling the city with Spawn’s iconic cape, taking down criminals, demons and angels!?

3. Spider Jerusalem

From the mind of Warren Ellis and and main protagonist from the comic ‘Transmetropolitan’.

A famous outlaw journalist living in a dystopian Cyberpunk time. Jerusalem is a sarcastic, drug-addicted, foul-mouthed, troubled, bitter, but brilliant gonzo journalist with a deep-seated hatred of authority, political corruption, and dogs. He is obsessed with the Truth, which he refers as the “ultimate weapon”.

I actually think this character would work so well in his own game. He is perfectly whacky. Truthfully, there are very few games where play as a reporter.

4. NOVA

The NOVA Corps finest, Richard Rider.

NOVA is basically a supped up space cop, with an absolutely incredible amount of super powers. Eidos Montreal, the studio behind Marvels Guardians Of The Galaxy game would absolutely nail this.

NOVA is one of Marvels most powerful heroes. With the worldmind at his side, he can get intel on anything he faces. He has an army of NOVA troopers. He moves at super sonic speeds. Thanks to his super suit, he can fire incredibly strong beams and has super strength. I would very much welcome a NOVA game.

5. KNULL

Knull was an eldritch god of darkness and the creator of the symbiotes. The celestials awakened him while he resided in the primordial void that existed between the Sixth and Seventh Cosmoses. They intended for him to become the ‘King In Black’. He declined. Instead, he created the first symbiote. It was a sword that he used to decapitate one of the gods.

KNULL is a relatively new comic book character but has become an immediate fan favourite. Made famous by Donny Cates epic storyline with VENOM. I can imagine a game akin to ‘God Of War’.

6. Daredevil

Matt Murdock has been deserving of his own game for years. We unfortunately have had many cancellations.

But his popularity has never wavered. Many people see his game as very akin to the Arkham games. I am totally okay with that.

They could set themselves apart from the Arkham games by simply utilizing Murdock’s day job. Taking the court by day and fighting criminals at night. Ace attorney games show us that a lot of people would welcome another attorney game. In this game, you get to beat up the criminals too!

7. VENOM

Spider-man 2 by Insomniac games gave us a glimpse of what a game with VENOM would be like. I want more.

It doesn’t necessarily have to take place in the Insomniac verse. They could absolutely utilize Donny Cates’ magnificent story. This, in turn, would branch into a KNULL game.

After Cates run of VENOM, he became one of the strongest characters in the Marvel universe. Lets be honest, we all love VENOM. After the passing of the legendary Tony Todd, who did such an amazing job of him previously, they would need to find another that can bring the same gravitas.

8. DOCTOR STRANGE

Need I say more?

Protecting our reality as Dr. Stephen Strange is a no brainer!

The absolute eye candy that is his powers would surely stir awe in his fans! The utter success of Hogwarts Legacy shows undeniable proof. Magic absolutely has a huge place in gaming. This is more so now than ever before.

It would need to be handled with absolute care and done right. I really believe if he had his own game that it would be a colossal hit. Imagine training up to be ‘sorcerer supreme’ and eventually taking on Dormammu. Give it to me now!

9. GHOST RIDER

Lets forget about that awful tie in game for the Ghost Rider movie.

Johnny Blaze, the man who sold his soul and became the spirit of vengeance. He begs to have his own game. Who would not want to ride around catching criminals and demons alike?

With an array of amazing supernatural abilities that I think would be perfect in a game. He really has some utterly amazing stories to draw from. I think Marvel are the only ones that do not believe he would carry his own game.

10. Superman

I know, I know. How can they make a game that has the strongest hero ever as the main character.

They’ve tried, they’ve failed. Frankly I don’t have those answers. But by god do we need a Superman game.

Can you imagine a Supes game running on Unreal Engine 5?

I understand that creating a game around Clark Kent would require an immense amount of work. This is due to his array of god-like abilities and the absolute need for destructive environments. There is a developer out there can take on the task. However, they have yet to be found and given the OK. The last son of Krypton deserves it!

I hope you enjoyed reading my list as much as I had fun creating it!

  1. Superman has certainly struggled to get his own game. He is in Injustice, but you need to be into fighting games for 1 and 2 to play as Superman.

    • I personally loved injustice 1 & 2 but unfortunately he was made into a villain. He had his reasons for sure but I’d love to see the real supes in his own game. Flying around Metropolis would be epic!
