We first got our glimpse of The Witcher 4 at The Game Awards 2024, and fans were hyped! It was also our first look at a much older and more mature Siri, seemingly, our new protagonist. Many wondered if we may see the game sooner, rather than later. But since then, we have heard very little about The Witcher 4.
Now, picked up by PCGamer during an earnings call presentation from CD Projeckt Red. CD Projekt Red went on to say “Even though we do not plan to release The Witcher 4 by the end of 2026, we are still driven by this financial goal.” Naturally, this caught the ears of those on the earnings call with the first question at hand during the Q&A – “Will The Witcher 4 launch in 2027?” Which quickly saw a declined to answer any date at all yet.
“We are not going to announce the precise launch date for the game yet,” CD Projekt chief financial officer Piotr Nielubowicz said in response. “All we could share now to give more visibility to investors is that the game will not be launched within the timeframe of the first target for the incentive program, which ends December 31, 2026.”

This should come as no surprise; the Polish developer only recently hired 50 plus more employees to work on The Witcher 4 and other projects. CD Projekt Red did state last year that the game was just now heading into full production. Which means we’d be lucky to see The Witcher 4 by 2027 at all. In fact, I would think it would be closer to 2029. Yes, I know, this isn’t what any Witcher fan wants to hear, but, game development isn’t something that happens overnight. The last thing CD Projekt Red wants is another Cyberpunk 2077 situation on their hands. Ya, I said it. So, this means they will need to take their time and get it right. I can wait. There are currently so many games I can’t catch up, and if The Witcher 4 is as good as it should be, I’ll want to be ready for launch. I have some work to do!
Let us know when you think we’ll see The Witcher 4 release.
