It seems as though Microsoft isn’t the only video game giant willing to play nice and bring enough to share with the class. They have recently begun extending their first-party Xbox Game Studios titles to other company’s platforms, such as the upcoming Gears of War: Reloaded and Halo: Combat Evolved Remaster, and Sony appears to be following suit as they look to fill a Senior Director role for “Multiplatform & Account Management.”
As I read through the key job responsibilities, it seems as though my initial assumptions were correct in that the jobholder will be primarily focused on overseeing PlayStation Studios titles making the desperately begged for transition to non-PlayStation hardware; this means Xbox, Nintendo, Steam, Epic Games Store, mobile, you name it! This is something that many fans of PlayStation’s exclusive catalog, including myself, have been frantically demanding for years!

With Xbox finally making a major push to bridge the gap between gaming loyalists, it seems Sony doesn’t want to miss out on the potential profit and positive PR, as console hardware is becoming far more obsolete as far as market growth is concerned. The real future of making money in the industry is going to come from whomever has the most first-party titles and the best subscription service, much like with film and television streaming apps, and this has become far more apparent to these titans of the gaming space.
All I know for certain is that I really want to play the Uncharted series, the God of War series, The Last of Us, Astro Bot, Days Gone, Ghost of Tsushima, Stellar Blade, and more on my Xbox Series X, complete with the achievements, controller, and user interface that I most prefer, on my favorite of the current-gen consoles on offer. All of that, plus the addition of cross-play with my gaming buddies on PS5 would be so perfect. Let’s just put the already ridiculous “console war” behind us, shake hands, and move on to an era of peace and prosperity in gaming!
