Summer Game Fest 2025 will take place June 6th at 5pm ET / 10pm BST at the usual spot, the YouTube theater in Lost Angeles, California. This year’s live kickoff show will last about 2 hours and promises to bring “spectacular new video game announcements, surprises, and reveals”.
The SGF showcase will be followed by the annual Play Days, which is the invite-only media event that is planned to run from June 7th to the 9th in downtown LA and is being produced by Iam8bit.

Something new this year however will be a business-to-business event curated by former GamesIndustry.biz boss and VGC contributor, Christopher Dring. The event will feature producer Geoff Keighley and will supposedly dive into “some of the key changes, challenges and opportunities facing the global video game industry, as well as celebrate the cultural impact and importance of video games as the most powerful form of entertainment in the world”
They have already confirmed the first group of partners for the 2025 SGF in an official X post. More than 60 partners will be in attendance and will feature many of the industry’s biggest and most influential studios.
Xbox and Playstation will of course be participating per usual, but now Nintendo has made a return to the list of partners as well. This is Nintendo’s first time in years at the event, as they have instead hosted their own Nintendo Direct presentations after the SGF.
This doesn’t however mean that a Nintendo Direct type presentation will take place, but rather it could be a trailer for a Nintendo game or perhaps more information on the upcoming launch of the Switch 2 and its accessories.
With big name studios and popular indy devs being showcased at this year’s SGF, it will be interesting to see what gets revealed. I’m hoping for the next Resident Evil game, maybe a teaser for the Fallout 3 remaster, or an announcement of the part 2 of the Metal Gear Solid re-releases. I want to play MGS4 on Xbox! Either way, I’m excited for June 6th to see what we are treated to.
