Spartan Survivors is a new high-octane Bullet Heaven/Roguelike action game akin to similar titles of the genre such as Brotato and the smash hit Vampire Survivors. The standout feature of Spartan Survivors, however, comes from the source material from which it draws inspiration; I am of course referring to the ever-popular storied franchises Halo.
Players will be given the choice to step into the alien-slaying armor of either Master Chief or The Arbiter to battle overwhelming waves of familiar foes, featuring enemies from both The Flood and The Covenant. There will also be custom game options after completion of the intended initial playthrough that will provide players with the ability to shape the experience in-line with their preferred level of challenge and content.
Early in development, eager fans of the project were concerned that the game would be issued a cease-and-desist letter from the current owners of the Halo franchise, but in an exciting and relatively groundbreaking turn of events, Halo Studios (formerly called 343 Industries) have not only given their blessing, but have also been enjoying the game in its early stages stating:
“Really love to see the passion you and your team have poured into this experience – it really is fun and we look forward to getting further in our playthrough and unlocking more stuff”
The game seems to play much like many other over-the-top free-to-play shoot em’ ups, but with the level of depth found within the game’s many weapons and their accompanying evolutions, the number of unlockable playable characters, and ten unique levels already included in the current iteration of the game, it seems as though this will be a true delight for fans of the genre and the source material.
The game’s lead developer “The Bathrobe Designer” a.k.a. JuanGGZ has stated that the game is currently available on Itch.io but will soon be getting a Steam release sometime next month, and later in the Summer players can expect Xbox and mobile launches of the anticipated title. According to their social media posts, they are currently beta testing the project on console and that’s got me pretty darned excited!
As a fan of both the style of gameplay as well as the Halo universe and its weapons and characters, I for one could not be more excited to get my hands on this game when it eventually drops on Xbox later this Summer!

Spartan Survivors is playable with a mouse & keyboard or with a controller. You can use both QWERTY or AZERTY by using the launcher.exe available and select which setting suits you best.
