Zoinks! Scooby-Doo and the Mystery Inc. gang are gearing up for a fresh adventure, and this time, they’re leaping off the animated screen into live-action. Netflix has officially greenlit Scooby-Doo! The Live-Action Series, a one-hour drama that promises to bring a modern twist to the beloved Hanna-Barbera classic. The project was announced on March 26, 2025. It is moving forward with a script-to-series commitment. Fans could soon see Shaggy, Fred, Daphne, and Velma. The snack-loving Great Dane himself could be tackling mysteries in a whole new way.
The series hails from Berlanti Productions, led by Greg Berlanti—known for hits like Riverdale and You—and Warner Bros. Television. Writing duo Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg, who previously worked on Netflix’s Cowboy Bebop, are penning the script. They are joining as executive producers alongside Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman, and Midnight Radio’s André Nemec and Jeff Pinkner. While plot details remain under wraps (no unmasking just yet!), the show is described as a dramatic update to the iconic cartoon that debuted in 1969.
Netflix outbid multiple contenders for this premium project. Anticipation is high for the live-action take. It will blend the gang’s signature spooky fun with a contemporary edge. Will Scooby’s CGI antics steal the show? Can the team capture the heart of the original? Stay tuned—meddling kids and mystery fans alike won’t want to miss this one!
I am personally very excited as I was a huge Fan of James Gunns live action movie!
I’ll be humming the theme song for the rest of the day!
