Before I start here, I know what you’re thinking, but without further a due, lets talk about it. Directive duo Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah (Adil and Bilall), who directed the movie Bad Boys, have signed to direct a movie adaptation of Riders Republic, the award-winning video game from Ubisoft.

The upcoming project looks to bring the excitement and the extreme sports-focused game to the big screen, which is being developed and produced by Gaumont and Ubisoft Film & Television. Gaumont’s worldwide sales branch is launching the project in Cannes.
Riders Republic has over 10 million players worldwide, and it takes players to vast landscapes which usually involve a steep mountain or two to experience the adrenaline of extreme sports! The adaptation will capture the action with plenty of humour and big stunts on the snow-covered slopes of the Alps.
With many other video game-based movies coming to the big screen, is there scope here for a movie which is based off of an extreme sports game? Myself, I’m unsure about the idea of this because, as we all know, the game is thrilling in its own right for sure. However, did anyone ask for a movie of this particular game? We know there are currently some IPs that are being poised to be taken to our television screens, such as Watch Dogs (New Regency), a live-action Assassin’s Creed series (Netflix) and even a Just Dance movie (Sony), but this one I just don’t think makes much sense in the grand scheme of things to be honest.
A short article for you today. However, we want to know what you think of this news in the comments below! Do you think a Riders Republic movie will hit the slopes? Or do you think it crashed down in an avalanche?
