Resident Evil Requiem’s recent leaks have shed light on Leon’s involvement within the game, and it shows us that his gameplay takes place in 2020 with heavy action alongside an atmospheric horror vibe to boot. With many characters being rumoured to feature in the new Resident Evil title as playable characters, with our blonde-haired hero Leon S. Kennedy being one of them, it’s no surprise to see leaks coming out from insiders about certain aspects of the upcoming horror game. Capcom are yet to officially confirm other playable characters aside from the MC, but an insider has revealed info regarding Leon’s gameplay within Requiem.
A recent X post (formerly Twitter) by renowned Resident Evil leaker Dusk Golem, it was stated that “most (but not all) of Leon’s gameplay is set in 2020, while most (but not all) of Grace’s gameplay is set in 2028.” A lot of but not all’s there by Dusk, however if that’s correct, it creates a visit to the past moment for Leon when going back to Racoon City. The insider also said that Leon will feature “grey hair” in RE Requiem and his gameplay will involve a more “action-focus BUT will be more focused on horror and atmospherics,” as opposed to seeing the apparent grizzled character back in his days facing the parasitic Las Plagas in Resident Evil 4.
Speaking about Resident Evil 4’s theatrics with Salazar, there will apparently be less over-the-top stuff in the next title within the franchise, nothing within the realms of “Salazar’s statue in RE4 or the Heisenberg cyber zombies & mecha tank fight in RE8.” This is also in accordance to Dusk Golem and the tweet he shared features a video discussing more leaks which is done by the man himself.
Within the video provided by the acclaimed leaker, it adds that Leon’s gameplay does not feature any open-world exploration but does include a few larger levels, in which Leon will have a vehicle to use to travel in “at least one of the levels.” Dusk also has apparently heard in the grapevine that Leon will be revealed for RE9 at the spectacular Tokyo Game Show 2025, which will also follow with a new trailer, and pre-orders set to go live then also, however, none of their direct sources are onto what Capcom is putting out in terms of marketing.
As always, take these leaks with a pinch of salt, as they are just that, leaks and not actual factual. However, Dusk Golem has been decent at revealing what Capcom is laying down in terms of expectations of what’s to come, but some fans still remain sceptical of the insider’s info, as he has been wrong occasionally by a bigger margin than hoped for.

Are you excited about Resident Evil Requiem? I am for damn sure, I can’t wait to take a trip back to Racoon City in the guise of Grace Ashcroft, an all-new stance within the world of horror being brought to us on the back of those two horror-based thrillers, Resident Evil Biohazard and Resident Evil Village. I hope Leon does come back to the game as it would be good to get closure on the character who has had his struggles throughout the franchise for a while now, but to maybe see that chapter come to an end actually scares me as he is a mainstay! If you are as excited as I am, then head over to our cool Facebook page, Everything Xbox, and keep up with all the latest news, reviews and gaming gimmicks that come with them!
