Polygon Sold With Most Of The Staff Getting Laid Off In The Process

Valnet, one of the video game industry’s larger media outlet owners when it comes to site distribution, has now purchased Polygon and laid off most of their staff.

Former Polygon editor-in-chief Chris Plante took to BlueSky to inform others that he no longer works at Polygon.

Also, Ryan Gilliam, former guides’ producer, took to X to mention that after ten years, he will no longer be working at Polygon as well, among many others.

Polygon originally started in 2012 under Vox Media before being sold to Valnet. A company that owns many gaming outlets, among others, ranging from Screen Rant, Game Rant, The Gamer and many others has just purchased Polygon for an undisclosed price. How many staff members were affected by the layoffs is still unknown. However, it appears to be the majority of staff with only a few remaining.

Let us know what you think of another outlet getting swallowed up, to see its staff let go in the process.
