PlayStation News | PS5 selling extremely well and identical to PS4 sales

Sony’s financial Q4 has come in as any other financial years have, and it’s fascinating to say the least. The PlayStation 5 had an extreme struggle, as demand early on with production was limited and with the price increases happening now, the figures say that sales right now are tracking to be following the pattern of the PS4.

With the PlayStation 5 launching in 2020, it instantly became the top-selling console. The price tag is larger than the PS4. However, the demand has stayed the same with nearly 80 million units being snagged and bagged within the four and a half years it has been available!

Currently, as we stand, the PlayStation 5 is consistent with the sales of the previous console and is pretty much matching in units being sold. In Q4, Sony announced that the PlayStation 5 had sold a further 2.8 million units, pushing sales higher and higher. This has taken the total yearly units sold to 18.5 million, and that’s by 2025 alone. Again, referring to the total units sold, we sit at 77.8 million, which is a huge number of units to be sold and, by the end of the Financial Year 2025, Sony is expecting a much larger number, which is obvious regarding how the PlayStation 5’s demand is increasing, which relates to Xbox’s lower console sales, but Xbox gaming has increased at the side of their loss of unit demand.

This data shows us all how the increasingly large demand for the console really is, with people saying Sony is dominating sales over Xbox. It’s kinda hard to argue with that fact, especially with the data being released. However, Sony lacks in the department of creating first-party games with Xbox pumping them out seemingly at will, as Xbox has control over the majority of developers at their disposal.

As always, let us know in the comments below what you think about the figures. Do you believe that the PlayStation is the dominant console it spells out to be? Or do you think that Xbox stands head-to-head?
