Nintendo Switch 2 | New Startup Screen Jingle

Nintendo has always had fun and memorable startup screens for their consoles like the Nintendo 64’s “N” appearing, or the wonderfully musical and often memed Gamecube start up block. The Switch even had that clicking sound that has now gone down in history as a classic sound effect that indicates that the player is about to have some fun, but for many the Nintendo Switch 2 start screen may become the new best startup Nintendo has had to date.

X user @Stealth40k shared a clip showing how the Nintendo Switch 2 behaves when you power on the console. The Joy-Con clicking sound is back and as memorable as ever, but it is now accompanied by a fun and whimsical jingle akin to something out of an Animal Crossing game.

The startup screen seems even more colorful and memorable than the original Switch, which will hopefully be an indication of the quality and tone of the games and features that will be the largest part of the experience. I think the more pleasant and simple the startup screens are, the longer they stick with people through nostalgia. Think about the PSX and PS2 startup screens, or even the older Xbox consoles. The sound effects, the music, the colors, the logos, they all sit in the minds of so many gamers to this day.

It’ll be interesting to see how Nintendo continues to grow their brand with this new hardware and how they plan to integrate this tone into their first party titles. Hopefully it will be fun for the whole family. We’ll know for sure in about a week!
