In the unfortunate wake of Donald Trump’s announcement of new tariffs, Nintendo has made the challenging decision to delay the U.S. Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order date of April 9th to an unknown date.
UPDATE: This appears to only affect those in the U.S. and pre-orders will continue to launch on April 9th in Canada.
In an official statement from Nintendo sent out to the media, “Pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 in the U.S. will not start April 9, 2025 in order to assess the potential impact of tariffs and evolving market conditions. Nintendo will update timing at a later date. The launch date of June 5, 2025 is unchanged.”
With the release of the Nintendo Switch 2 only 2 months away, many will have to wait to hear just when we’ll be able to place our pre-orders for Nintendo’s highly anticipated new handheld device. Nintendo revealed the Switch 2 earlier this week to the world. You can catch up on any details here that you may have missed. Besides the higher-than-expected price tag, with the Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World Bundle coming in at $700 CAD, and Trumps new tariff act affecting the final overseas price. We would see the price become astronomical and out of reach for many fans.
