New Rainbow Six Siege Title Goes Even More Tactical

Ubisoft is currently working on a new Rainbow Six Siege title, according to Tom Henderson, a reputable source in the industry. He’s learned that the next new title for the franchise will be a top-down turn-based tactics game similar to XCOM. Will we ever see what Rainbow Six Patriots could have been?

Though little is known about the game, his sources claim that the game will be aiming for a 2026/2027 release for current gen consoles, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and possibly the Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo seems to be heading towards a more mature generation with more 18+ titles joining the platform this time around.

One source told Insider Gaming “just watch some XCOM gameplay if you want to get an idea, I’d say it’s an updated version of that with cinematic cutscenes and so on.” You will be tasked with selecting your operators with specific abilities to head out into the field, similar to operators currently in Rainbow Six Siege. After selecting your team, you will head out to raid buildings, save hostages and more. Rainbow 6 Tactics gameplay is currently aiming for 25–30 hours across gameplay and cinematics, but is subject to change throughout development if segments are to be cut from the game.

The recent Ubisoft and Tencent subsidiary currently places this new game in a bit of a fog of war. Some staff members working on the game don’t quite know where this falls inline with the new deal as Rainbow Six was one of the IP’s under the new subsidiary with Tencent. Rainbow Six Siege is one of Ubisoft’s largest IP’s as the game of service has reached over 50 million players and, with the release of Rainbow Six Siege X just around the corner, the game should continue to grow in numbers to increase the players as Ubisoft is planning the next 10 years of Rainbow Six Siege.
