Last year at the Game Awards we saw Neil Druckmann come out on stage to reveal Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. But, what we didn’t know, was that Naughty Dog has been quietly hard at work on another project for the past 3 years.
NO, it’s not The Last of Us Part lll, Neil said “don’t to bet on more Last of Us“, so calm down a bit. However, what about the possibility of another adventure with Nathan Drake and family? This is pure speculation on my part. So before we dive into my thoughts, let’s discuss what a well-known insider had to say.
The news comes from insider DanielRPK on his Patreon page, behind paywall, spotted via TheGamePost.
“Naughty Dog has a second project (not The Last of Us III), directed by Shaun Escayg (Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, Avengers). “It’s been in development for three years now.”
This leaves us to the question: Are we getting more Uncharted? If Shaun directed Uncharted: The Lost Legacy all the way back in 2017, he certainly has ties to the series. Shaun left Naughty Dog for a short stint to work on Marvel Avengers before returning to Naughty Dog in 2021. Is it possible we could step back into the world of Uncharted? Would it be time to pass the torch to Nate’s daughter, Cassie Drake? Are we beginning to see our favorite franchises expand the roster of protagonists? Speculation of a God of War title releasing this year has us wondering if Kratos would pass the torch over to Atreus. Are our little ones starting to grow up and get their own spin-off games?
