Monster Hunter Wilds | CAPCOM Spotlight Details

The showcase was wrapped up with a large number of reveals from the Monster Hunter Wilds Title Update 2 that releases on June 30th. First off, I think it’s best to mention the reason everyone wanted to read this section; Yes, there are new monsters coming to the game! Lagiacrus makes its mighty return for the first time since its appearance in Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate. Director Yuya Tokuda was practically giddy when sharing the news that one of the legendary monsters that he helped design was returning to the franchise, and how the team has incorporated underwater actions that will create for some unique and memorable moments when battling this returning leviathan.

Along with Lagiacrus comes Seregios, a quick and agile wyvern that first appeared in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. This dominating force will challenge hunters to truly utilize every ounce of strategy and quick reflexes that they can muster if they intend on surviving and eventually besting this powerful beast. After completing their accompanying main missions, both of these fearsome foes will appear as 8 star Tempered monsters that will be available for hunters at HR41 and above.

It was also revealed that on July 30th, Arch-tempered Uth Duna will arive as a limited-time Event Quest and a Free Challenge Quest and will reward successful hunters with the Uth Duna y and Felyne Uth Duna y armor sets. I’ve never met a hunter that doesn’t love showing off their new event gear! While we’re on the subject of fashion hunters, I’m sure they’ll be tickled to know that once Title Update 2 drops, once a hunter has crafted the final weapon in a tree, the powerful end-game Rarity 8 Artian weapons and High-Rank Palico weapons will provide their designs as Layered Weapons. Yes, I know, I like playing dress-up as much as the next fashion hunter, it’s kind of the best part.

Once hunters have geared up and layered their look however they so please, they will now be able to enhance their fit and show off to other jealous hunters with the new photo mode options including filter effects and brightness settings, among others like hiding their Palico, Seikret, Handler, and more in the Character Display tab. Hunters are also getting some new support options including a Sword & Shield wielding Support Hunter named Mina who will be joining from the Vespae Unit, and the inquisitive biologist Erik who can fill in for Alma as the Avis unit’s Handler. The new update also brings with it the choice of which Support Hunters can be summoned to form the ideal party to suit the hunter’s preferred playstyle.

Oh, and we can’t forget that on July 23rd, hunters are going to get to take part in The Festival of Accord: Flamefete, a new seasonal celebration that will include limited-time Grand Hub meals and décor, new equipment, gestures, and more. It’s a Monster Hunter seasonal event folks, you know the drill, they’re going to go all out as always! Title Update 2 will also be introducing some new free and paid DLC including a handful of dance gestures, cosmetic packs, and more. Lastly, in perhaps one of the most bizarre and somehow fitting cross-promotions in the company’s storied history, Capcom’s previously sold-out Fender Monster Hunter Rathalos Red Telecaster is coming to the game on August 27th as a new gesture that’s obtainable through completion of an upcoming limited-time Event Quest.
