Mario Paint first launched in 1992 becoming a smash hit that kids and adults alike fell in love with. With many still retaining fond memories of the colorful title to this day. Given how beloved this game is, I am surprised that Nintendo has taken this long to bring it to the Nintendo Switch Online Library; however, I believe this has something to do with the new mouse control feature on the recently released Nintendo Switch 2. While you can play Mario Paint on an original Switch, you will have to plug in a mouse via a USB port to properly interact with the images on screen.

Mario Paint is a surprisingly content rich title where you can paint freely using the game’s tools, or paint inside the lines in digital coloring books. Players can also compose unique music, create their own sprites using a stamp designer and even mess around with animation software that Nintendo included in the original game. It was truly ahead of its time, and to this day remains rent free in many people’s minds hoping to one day play this game again. If you are one of those people, Mario Paint is now available on Nintendo Switch 1 & 2 via Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Subscription.
