We covered it last week as Bungie began teasing fans of their upcoming sci-fi extraction shooter that a reveal would be coming soon. It turns out soon will be Saturday April 12th.
On Saturday, April 12th at 1pm EST, Bungie will premier to the world their extraction shooter Marathon with gameplay, news and updates. The Marathon Gameplay Reveal Showcase can be seen on their Twitch channel or YouTube Page.
The official press release about Marathon reads:
“Marathon is a team-based extraction shooter and the first completely new project from Bungie, the creators of Halo and Destiny, in more than a decade. Set on the mysterious planet of Tau Ceti IV, Marathon will see players inhabit the bodies of Runners, cybernetic mercenaries who have been designed to survive the planet’s harsh environments. While exploring the lost colony that once inhabited the surface, players will search for valuable loot including new weapons and gear.”
The world of Marathon remains a mystery, but we’ll know much more soon as we’ll be there for all your Marathon coverage. We hope to find out a release date for Bungie’s next title this coming weekend. Will PlayStation finally have a live service title launch this year that connects with fans? Bungie certainly know their way around the live service model after the massive success of Destiny. However, is there room for another extraction shooter? Escape from Tarkov remains top dog with others circling around the 10-year early access title. Can Marathon steal the spotlight? I expect they will for a time. But, will Marathon be able to keep the momentum going?
