Lego Batman is at the tip of everybody’s tongue right now and all for the right reasons, it’s the first sort of Arkham-style Batman game we’ve been able to get excited for in a long time, and as a huge fan of the original Arkham series, I am absolutely ecstatic. After Warner Bros. considered launching another live service title, I was getting worried we were going to see our beloved dark knight dragged through the mud, until this, the savior of the night, Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight.
In the now-hyped Lego game, which was announced at Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025, the famous caped crusader will return to the shape of a smaller, yet just as feared character, as Lego Batman: Legacy of The Dark Knight brings back Batman and many of his friends to relive some of their iconic moments together as protectors of Gotham. This is a Batman fans’ ultimate dream; to see their hero from the start, right up until they have their glory defeating baddies in their way, and we get to do it as a Lego figurine, go figure. With characters, costumes, scenes, and references to so many of the games, movies, comics, and shows surrounding the shadowy sentry, it’s sure to be a blast for fans both new and returning!
Speaking of Arkham and Gotham alike, according to rumors, it is said that the title, set to be released in 2026, will give us a sizable Gotham to explore and adventure in with our favorite caped crusader and friends. Said rumors/s came from an X (formerly Twitter) account, where they stated the Lego game will have four islands with the South Island being the largest. If this is true, it will confirm that the much-hyped Batman game will be one of the largest open-world Batman games to date.
Batman Arkham Knight, which was developed by Rocksteady Games, took us to Gotham and opened the scope of the world up, designing it in such a way that allowed players to thoroughly explore every nook and cranny. If we really think about it, the city space they built was so large that we even got to drive the legendary Batmobile, roaring through the streets and battling tanks! Would you believe that this game is now a decade old? Yeah, me neither, but here we are now feeling old. Let’s not see this as a negative though, as throughout the decade there have been plenty of major technological advancements.
As I mentioned earlier, there will be some friends accompanying Batman on his crusade to the top, but with that, he is joined by only 6 of them that have been revealed so far; Jim Gordon, Nightwing, Robin, Talia al Ghul, Batgirl and Catwoman! Each with their own unique entrance and meeting with Batman, which I think is really cool. However, the one particular standout for me is Talia, as I’m very intrigued to see what her role will be within this universe… it’s usually never good.

With there being more rumors than ever floating around for this eagerly anticipated game, it’s always a good idea to check your sources and expectations. However, one rumor that is apparently firmly in the mill is that there will be over 100 suits within the game to equip our mysterious hero with and to equip our friends with the finest gear they could get. This, along with the rumored islands within the game, tells me that we should be expecting a large game and many foes to oppose Master Bruce.
