Well, it’s starting to look like NetherRealm really is working on Injustice 3, as if there were ever any doubt, as two of the main voice actors in the series have plainly stated that it’s currently under development. Before Mortal Kombat 1 was officially announced, fans had no concrete idea of what NetherRealm would drop next, and it was widely assumed that the return to the DC superhero fighter would be the next logical release.
Fans are keenly aware that NetherRealm are known for jumping back and forth between its two storied fighting franchises, and with Mortal Kombat 11 serving as the most recent release from the studio at the time, it only made sense that fans would be getting some more Batman vs. Superman action.

As history now shows, that didn’t end up being the case, and NetherRealm’s streak of series hopping was broken with two back-to-back MK games, with Mortal Kombat 1 recently ending its post-launch support to much controversy in the player community but indicating that the team is likely shifting focus to another upcoming project. That project is now known to be Injustice 3… at least according to some of the voice actors.
According to Away_Investigator965 on the GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit, the most recent rumors come from fans meeting some of the series’ voice actors at recent conventions. Twitter user Brendan_Batman shared their story of meeting George Newbern, the voice of Superman in other titles, at Fan Expo, where the actor supposedly told them he was currently working on the third entry into the series.
Newbern isn’t the only inside leaker, as X user DannySoul0 recently met John Stewart’s voice actor Phil LaMarr, who previously voiced Hal Jordan in Injustice 2. LaMarr directly said that NetherRealm is working on Injustice 3, although he didn’t specify if he would be voicing Jordan, Stewart, or someone else. Regardless, I’m all about voice actors spoiling upcoming releases.
Sure, it affects marketing, but it’s one of the more concrete bits of evidence for an authentic leak, apart from the devs outright sharing the development of these games. I’m excited, regardless of my typical lack of interest in the majority of fighting games like this, I’ve always had a soft spot for the Injustice titles.
