Hideo Kojima recently spoke with a French magazine and said that his up-and-coming Metal Gear successor, Physint, is still “another five or six years” away. Soulcrushing.. Let’s get into it!
With Kojima being weeks out from launching his studio’s next potential big hit, Death Stranding 2, he is looking towards the future, as he spoke recently, outlining the next ten years of his life, but not just this. He has also got ideas to leave after he passes! (big steps to follow for sure). So far, there are two upcoming Kojima games, which are OD, an upcoming horror title that’s being made alongside director Jordan Peele for Xbox Game Studios, and Physint, which will be an action-espionage-style game… we’ve heard this one before, right? Metal Gear has been given flowers here.

Physint was confirmed at the end of the state of play last January, but since then we haven’t heard much news about this, however there has been Death Stranding 2 and OD in the way of this, so we assume this may be a while off just yet and, with Kojima saying we expect to see this in five or six years. Sighs in Solid Snake.
In the interview with the French magazine Le Film Francais which has been posted by Kojima’s assistant on Twitter and furthermore translated by a ResetEra user Red Kong, Kojima hit us with some info about physint when he was asked if he would like to direct a movie. “Besides Death Stranding 2, there’s also Physint in development” Kojima added “That will take me another five or six years, but maybe after that i could finally decide to take on a film”.
Unfortunately for us, we have to remain steadfast and hope we get drip-fed more news regarding physint soon. However, Kojima had mentioned beforehand that both Physint and OD were delayed due to the 2024 SAG Strike, but gave no real idea of when OD could expect to be released. The idea would probably be that Death Stranding 2 comes, then OD then potentially Physint!
What do you guys think now we hit the end of our typewriter? Do you think that Kojima has plenty left in the tank to deliver? Or do you think that Kojima is holding out on info for us? Do let us know in the comments below.
