Helldivers 2: Heart of Democracy | Super Earth is Under Attack in New Update

Super Earth is under attack by the Illuminate fleet in Helldivers 2 in the new Heart of Democracy update, that PlayStation accidentally leaked on their socials last week. Now that the update has officially gone live, players have found that the Illuminate have invaded Super Earth and are wreaking havoc across the planet, and it is up to the Helldivers to defend their home and its citizens from utter annihilation.

The update will have players fighting in new urban environments packed with crowded city streets, panicking citizens running for safety, massive skyscrapers, and more. The Helldivers must band together to liberate the cities under attack, which is promised to have a “significant impact on planetary campaigns.”

In an effort to fend off the invading Illuminate legions, the Helldivers are going to need a bit more firepower than usual campaigns have required, so they will be provided with Planetary Defense Cannons. These cannons must be activated and maintained to destroy the Illuminate fleet and send an explosive message to the invading forces.

The new update also provides players with access to SEAF Troops that can join the fight to help uphold democracy on Super Earth. These allied squads will act independently to wipe out enemies but can also be issued orders by players to follow their squad as temporary support when needed.

One of the primary concerns with the Illuminate bringing the fight to Super Earth is that the citizens are now in direct danger, and players will encounter plenty of innocents fleeing in terror and must protect them at all costs. If a player strikes down a civilian, regardless of whether or not it was accidental friendly fire or not, they will be punished.

In the most recent previous update, players were given access to a new Weapon Customization feature that gave Helldivers the opportunity to gear up for the impending invasion including new Illuminate forces such as the Crescent Overseer, Fleshmobs, and the Stingray jet fighters.

Arrowhead has also recently announced that their next game will be free from PlayStation partnership, so many fans are hoping that means whatever they do next will make its way to Xbox as well.

Regardless, Super Earth needs saving, democracy needs defending, and it’s up to you to make that happen. Good luck out their Helldivers, you’re going to need it!
