Gordon Freeman, are you receiving? This is what many of us Half Life fans are shouting about with news of Half Life 3 being in a fully playable playtest following news from a valve insider and a 2025 reveal is quite possible! Let us delve deeper into the pipeline of what we’ve gotten.
Seventeen years….. Seventeen long years after Half Life 2 Episode 2 was released, we could finally be seeing what looks to be the latest addition to the series, or could we? Before the release of Half Life: Alyx, many of us Half Life fans seemed to be locked out of hope of ever returning to the franchise. However, when we were graced with Half Life: Alyx, a VR exclusive, it just gave us that glimmer of hope we all waited for and really proved that Valve hadn’t given Half Life the cold shoulder.
According to a Valve insider, the game is very much in a playable state, being play-tested among work colleagues and family members and also being able to get their hands on the game to test. This news comes from a reliable source in Gabe Follower, who has had a past of reliable leaks via datamining (which roughly translates to mooching through video games data files to find any trace of something coming from the future or a new feature).
Gabe Follower has claimed that a Valve insider advised them that Half Life 3 is being play tested as we speak however with that not being subsequent proof, they looked towards LinkedIn, which apparently shows that Valve are recruiting new devs, including some ex-staff members who previously worked on Half Life and the Left 4 Dead series.
Gabe has a pretty good track record of pointing out leaks, if we look towards his leak of Counter Strike 2’s Big update which saw weapon keychains to be added to the game. Gabe also leaked important details of Valve’s online shooter Deadlock.
However, for now, we will just have to sit pretty and wait for some fully concrete proof that we have Half Life 3 on the horizon and hope that we get to see Gordon Freeman again, Alexa play Vera Lynn’s We’ll Meet Again…
