GTA VI Could Be Delayed Once Again, Says One Insider

Studios releasing their game in 2025 were able to breathe a sigh of relief when Rockstar revealed their instant billion dollar title moved out from 2025 to May 26th, 2026.

Though GTA VI has been pushed back once, it doesn’t mean it won’t see another delay, and developers are still worried about the uncertainty of the title, according to Jason Schreier. As per Jason Schreier’s latest article, companies are still concerned about GTA VI and its recent move, with one company telling Schreier that:

“For other companies, Grand Theft Auto VI slipping was cause for panic. One developer working on a big multiplayer game told me that they had previously delayed their release date from Fall 2025 to Spring 2026. That was mostly because the game needed more time, but also to get away from GTA VI.“

We recently saw the legendary Hideo Kojima mention his concerns about GTA VI surrounding Kojima Productions’ upcoming Death Stranding 2: On The Beach release. Before Rockstar announced the delay and the impact the title would have on the industry and other studios. Schreier continued with “There’s no guarantee that May 2026 is a sure thing.”

Rockstar will often delay their titles multiple times. Red Dead Redemption was delayed twice, though GTA V was only delayed once for consoles; GTA V PC was in fact delayed twice. There is no rushing Rockstar with their games. If the studio feels they need to once again delay GTA VI, they will. However, this impacts the rest of the industry as studios don’t want to be caught in the wake of GTA VI’s release and now have growing concerns for those looking to release their game next year.

Let us know in the comments. Do you think GTA VI will once again see another delay?
