Elden Ring Nightreign is finally here after eager fans have waited for months, but FromSoftware has apparently gone in a slightly different direction with its newest Soulsborne title. The game doesn’t feature crossplay, it doesn’t allow the ability to play with only two players, there is no native voice chat, and it’s much more fast-paced compared to Elden Ring’s greater focus on more cautious exploration and strategic combat.
It’s only just released, but based on review scores it seems like the majority of players aren’t enjoying it as much as the previous Elden Ring or other FromSoftware games for that matter. With that said, there have still been over 300k players so far and surely more to follow. However, the original Elden Ring had an all-time peak of over 950k players, so it will likely take Nightreign a bit of time and perhaps some gameplay tweaks from patches to get it where it up to snuff.

It seems that Elden Ring Nightreign is essentially just more Elden Ring but with some slight gameplay/quality of life changes that have irritated some players. There are still over-the-top boss fights, crazy gear and weapons, and gorgeous music scoring the experience, but fans seem to be mixed and hoping for some changes to be implemented to make the experience a bit more familiar and enjoyable.
The game hasn’t even gotten its first weekend yet, so we’ll give it some time and see how it does and if FromSoftware address the feedback. Are you having fun with Elden Ring Nightreign? Has it failed to meet your expectations? Are you just waiting for another Bloodborne like a lot of FromSoftware’s fans? Let us know over on our Discord.
