EA is at it again! Skate is currently running its Closed Alpha Playtest and wanted to share their excitement with players of an “epic gameplay update” for those lucky enough to be in the current playtest. This comes via Mike Straw over at Insider-Gaming.
Unfortunately, players in the closed alpha playtest were met with MICROTRACTIONS! The developer, Full Circle, decided to add in microtransactions, saying it was to make sure players have a “positive experience when purchasing items.” Which was followed up by “To ensure we achieve these goals at Early Access, we have enabled the option to purchase and use virtual currency (San Van Bucks) in our ongoing Closed Alpha playtest,” the message reads. “Your feedback will be greatly appreciated in providing a great experience at Early Access launch.”

One thing to take note of is that Full Circle will at some point likely have to reset the servers and will be doing so before Skate launches later this year into Early Access. Meaning, those in the alpha test will in fact lose their cosmetics, but not their money spent. The developers let players know, that the money they do spend in the game will be waiting for them in the Early Access version of Skate in the form of San Van Bucks. You will need to use the same account from the Alpha Playtest though to recover the San Van Bucks when Skate rolls into full Early Access at some point this year.
Let us know if you are excited for the next Skate game.
