EA Eyes 100 Million Players For Battlefield 6

It is absolutely no doubt that Battlefield has been an absolute miss for some titles now, especially with the disappointment of Battlefield 2042. So, when EA’s leadership states that they want to hit 100 million players, does that mean they actually mean business this time? Or are we spying another flop?!

I am firmly in the camp of, if this next Battlefield title is done right, then we could see the revival of the franchise. However, if that isn’t the case (and need I say that I’m not banking my hopes), it’s pretty safe to assume that the franchise will end up 6 feet under. In a recent report however, it was revealed that EA’s leadership team are thoroughly aiming for that lofty target of 100 million players for Battlefield 6, which as of 2022, the entire series hasn’t managed to sell 100 million copies. With that said, I wish them the best of luck.

It has also been mentioned that “Project Glacier” AKA Battlefield 6, is prepared to go bigger than ever when it releases, potentially before April 2026. If it doesn’t drop before then, GTA 6 is going to overshadow this title in an overwhelming fashion. EA have also stressed that the leadership team has envisioned the 100 million player count to rival Call of Duty and Fortnite to throw a couple of those big names in the mix, but simply asked, how does EA actually think they will manage this?

In what has been a shocking revelation to us here, EA stating their aim for 100 million users is, quite frankly put, kind of crazy. Battlefield 2042 was a complete and utter flop out of the gates, and with Battlefield 1 only getting 30 million players, it seems that EA’s expectation is far beyond their means with this title. As a fan of the franchise, it has disappointed me to watch this once-great giant fall. I don’t foresee them ever returning to their former glory, but maybe they know something I don’t and that’s why the leadership team is setting their sights so high for the upcoming title. However, 100 million? Call of Duty war zone (which is free to play) got 100 million. Maybe Battlefield 6 will be free to play too, but who knows at this point other than those in charge at EA?

Do you all think that Battlefield 6 will hit 100 million users? Do you think that EA is ultimately setting bloated expectations on a game? Let us know in the comments below!
