Dear Sleepers, reads the post from Funcom in a statement posted on X about the delay of their upcoming survival game Dune: Awakening. They have released early access to media and content creators with their first impressions arriving on April 25th. You guessed it, we’re touring around Arrakis, so be sure to come back for my full impressions of Dune: Awakening on the 25th. However, Funcom, had to delay the release of Dune Awakening for Steam, from May 10th to now June 5 for early access buyers or June 10th for everyone else. Dune: Awakening will be releasing on consoles at a later date.
Why the delay? Here’s what Funcom had to say:
“Our ongoing Persistent Closed beta is also continuing in full force, with regular updates, and the feedback we’ve been collecting from beta testers has been invaluable in making sure we can launch a quality game. We have a very active Discord going with our beta testers where our developers can interact directly with them to ensure we collaboratively make Dune: Awakening a better game.”
“Thanks to this process, we’ve concluded that with a bit more time to cook, we can act on a lot more of the feedback we know is important to our beta testers.”
“As such, we will be moving the release date of Dune: Awakening to June 10th, with head start launching on June 5th.”
Funcom concluded by saying the extra three weeks will allow them the time needed to make the necessary improvements that will, overall, lead to a much better gameplay experience for everyone when the game launches this coming June.
Let us know if you are looking forward to heading to Arrakis in the comments below.
