Doom The Dark Ages: Friend or Foe?

A fresh reveal trailer looking further into the depths of hell as we get ready to hack, slash and blast our way through hordes of enemies in what looks to shape up to be another tearaway in the DOOM series, but Hugo Martin, Game Director at id Software, looks to have thrown a proverbial slash at Xbox fans’ wheels with recent comments.

Following a long-awaited trailer to give us more insight into what we may expect in the new addition of a much loved franchise, hailing all the way from the 90’s! Doom: The Dark Ages looks to provide a fresh entry into the slayers’ lore and, indeed, eyes to plunge us into the depths of hell to fight demons and Hell’s ruler alike. However, a twist? You ask, cosmic vibe from the legendary H. P. Lovecraft, anyone? We got a look at a demonic-looking Cosmic monster in the newest trailer!

On top of the new reveal, Hugo Martin spoke in depth in a cosmic reveal trailer, starting with Martin saying “Hello everyone out there in Sony land”, which has a bizarre ring considering the highly anticipated game is poised from a first-party studio and will be released to Xbox. Martin then continued down the Sony route by commenting “we wanted to give Sony fans something special” and on how well the game runs on the PlayStation 5, with no credit going to Xbox or PC alike.

What does this mean? More so, where does this leave Xbox and PC fans alike in the conversation about Doom: The Dark Ages? The latest addition looks to head back to the evolved roots of the DOOM series with more Rip ‘N’ Tearing set in a Hellish landscape in which the slayer will shred across with new weapons and new ways to tear foes apart!

What do you think? Let us know in the comments below. Have Xbox and PC fans been brushed aside or was this a subtle hint towards a personal preference?
