According to fresh reports, Bloober Team‘s first new game since the release of their triumphant Silent Hill 2 Remake, Cronos: The New Dawn, has impressed everyone during its first hands-on showcase event.
After the critical and commercial success enjoyed by Silent Hill 2 Remake, fans of the studio have realized that not only can Bloober handle gripping horror stories (as many already knew from previous titles like Layers of Fear), but they can also handle solid third-person combat.
This was a major concern when the beloved Silent Hill franchise was being entrusted to Bloober as they had yet to release a title with combat mechanics, typically focusing on running from threats and relying on environmental storytelling and jump-scares. Though as I said before, players’ minds were quickly put at ease after getting their hands on Bloober’s latest release.

With a newfound design style and outlet for gameplay experiences, Bloober is releasing one of their most ambitious and exciting projects to date. Cronos: The New Dawn is a post-apocalyptic sci-fi action horror title that takes a fair deal of inspiration from other science fiction horror classics like Dead Space and The Thing among others. The gameplay trailers look great, and now we’ve got hands-on reports that confirm!
Bloober announced just last week that a hands-on showcase event would be held, and in the glorious aftermath of the experience, their new game seems to be a major hit with both players and critics alike! Influencers, press, and early game testers have been sharing their first impressions across social media today about the crisp graphics, smooth gameplay, and genuinely frightening atmosphere, with many comparing its combat and style to the third-person over the shoulder Resident Evil remakes, but with a tone all its own.

The showcase gave players their first opportunity to experience the combat, atmospheric vibe, and the pulse-pounding combat engagements. Perhaps the most in-depth reports came from Projekt Parasol (in reference to Umbrella from Resident Evil), a Polish horror game fan community that shared:
“I had the pleasure of attending yesterday’s event organized by Bloober Team. It was a unique break from daily duties and an excellent opportunity to test ‘Cronos: The New Dawn’. The organizers showed immense dedication, and the developers’ statements were full of passion. The atmosphere was so intense that the game seemed to permeate our world, with the past blending into the present, creating an unforgettable, immersive experience. While I can’t yet reveal all the details, I can assure you that the upcoming production will be of a high standard, and fans of the Resident Evil series will certainly be satisfied.”
Frankly, that’s all I needed to know! I was already hooked from the outset after getting to witness the trailers the studio’s already released, but after hearing that fans of the Resident Evil series will “certainly be satisfied,” I know I’m going to love it. Capcom‘s Resident Evil franchise has been one of my all-time greatest loves since childhood, and I’ve formed many of my most exciting and lasting memories when playing those games and horror titles in general.
Without a set release date or any more in-depth gameplay reviews, the eagerness of fans and the speculation swirling around this game are undeniable. For this being Bloober’s first new IP in a while, Cronos: The New Dawn is shaping up to be an instant hit and will likely be one of the more popular horror titles to release in quite some time. I, for one, will be anxiously checking their socials for more news, teasers, trailers, and hopefully soon a release date!
