Yazoo!
I never thought I would see the day! Croc is back and better than ever. Argonaut games, thank you for this amazing remaster. Believe it or not, Croc: Legend Of The Gobbos was one of my most anticipated games of 2025. It is a game I can certainly say I have not played in 20 plus years.
As soon as I booted the game up, I was transported back to 1997. Utter nostalgia bliss. The very 90’s bedroom showing the original Croc on a CRT television was the cherry on top. If you played this game when it was out originally on the PlayStation One, you loved it. You are going to be overjoyed. I can guarantee it. It truly is one of the best remasters I have played in a very long time. Aspyr media should take a lot of pointers from Argonaut games.

So, lets dive into what’s new in the game.
Enhanced HD Graphics: The remaster features vibrant high-definition visuals, including updated textures, character models, and lighting. This gives the game a modern polish while retaining its nostalgic aesthetic. Players can also toggle between the remastered graphics and retro visuals reminiscent of the original PlayStation version. It looks how your memory remembers it. It is done perfectly. Very wholesome.
Modern Control Mechanics: The original game’s tank-style controls have been replaced with updated analog controls. This change makes movement smoother. Platforming also becomes more intuitive. An improved camera system accompanies this change, addressing some of the clunkiness of the 1997 version. However, players can switch back to the classic tank controls using the D-Pad if they prefer the original feel. But the modern controls feel absolutely amazing. Pressing B on the Xbox controller makes Croc do a really cool backwards spin to adjust his direction. It is wonderfully animated.
The Crocipedia: A standout addition, the Crocipedia is a digital museum filled with interviews from the original team members. It includes a Croc-ton of behind-the-scenes content. These include concept art, level designs, animation tests, and game design documents. It also contains pre-release soundtrack mixes, rare promotional materials, and documentary-style interviews with developers. This offers fans a deep dive into the game’s creation process. Its all really cool to be honest. There is a ton of love put into this.

Retro Video Modes: Players can choose display options that mimic the look of older hardware. These options include CRT television effects or VGA-style visuals. This enhances the nostalgic experience for those who want to relive the ’90s vibe.
Refined Gameplay Experience: The core gameplay spans 45 levels across five worlds. It remains faithful to the original. The modern controls and camera improvements make it more accessible. The game retains its simple yet satisfying moveset. It includes running, jumping, climbing, swimming, and tail-spinning. The game also has a layered level design with secrets to discover. It feels really good to control.
So all in all its an amazing remaster. Whether your a returning player or a brand new one, I encourage you to play this wonderful remaster. I have a funny feeling this game will sell very well! Fingers crossed the sequel gets the same love and treatment.
