CD Projekt Red posted what appears to be a teaser on social media, indicating something intriguing may be coming to the Cyberpunk 2077 universe on September 4th! The message was posted as an official notice issued by the fictional governing body in the world of Cyberpunk 2077, The New United States of America, about a “mounting cybersecurity threat.” The notice invites netrunners to face off against these “viciously determined” and “cowardly” foes, and many eager fans are hoping that the post is teasing new content for the sci-fi RPG.
While players in the community are filled with anticipatory excitement for the potential fresh experience, others believe that CDPR are simply referring to upcoming cybersecurity-related positions within the company that may soon be made available. However, if that’s what they’re doing, it feels odd to not include any job listings or specific details. I feel as though if it were a staffing plea, they’d at least wait until the vacancies were available before posting something like that. It feels more likely that it will be a game update or future reveal for the sequel.

In the post, CDPR’s social media manager wrote as though they were President Rosalind Myers of the N.U.S.A. stating as follows:
Message for N.U.S.A. Citizens September 4, 2025
Our great nation is once again facing a mounting cybersecurity threat – from those who hide in the shadows, too cowardly to publicly proclaim their beliefs, who are viciously determined to tear down the flag and the values it upholds. I will not accept this, and I know you won’t either.
The N.U.S.A. is seeking brave netrunners to join our efforts and overcome this grave threat. Our brave agents work tirelessly to keep our country secure, maintain its dominance, and defend it from those who seek to undermine it. Now you can join us in our fight for freedom. I personally welcome all who believe they have what it takes.
Take our recruitment test. Prove yourself. Serve the N.U.S.A.

The header text on the message was dated September 4th, 2025. Many commenters seem to believe that this could be in regard to the second season of Cyberpunk Edgerunners, while others are convinced that the 4th will be the announcement for “Project Orion” the currently in-development next entry in the game series. There are also quite a lot of commenters hoping that it will be the reveal of some new content for the first game, regardless of which, there are those believing this is a clever way to drum up applicants for future job openings. Time will tell, but I’d be happy with any of the above.
