Bungie Could Reveal Marathon Next Week It’s Been Claimed

According to one well-known insider, we might get our first true reveal of Bungie’s upcoming sci-fi extraction shooter Marathon soon.

Marathon is a sci-fi PvP extraction shooter where players take on the role of cybernetic mercenaries known as Runners that set out to explore a lost colony in search of fame, infamy and, of course, riches!

“It’s not a direct sequel to the originals, but something that certainly belongs in the same universe and that feels like a Bungie game,” said Game Director Christopher Barrett.

Marathon was first revealed at a PlayStation showcase in 2023 and very little has been known about the game since. Now, according to insider Jeff Grubb, Bungie could be setting up to reveal the sci-fi extraction shooter next week at a stand-alone PlayStation Marathon showcase. As spotted by TheGamePost, Grubb went on to say that Bungie will reveal more about Marathon “late next week”.

The last we heard anything about Marathon from Bungie was months ago with Game Director Joe Ziegler. Who went on to update us on the game’s status and gave us a few sneak peeks at some imagery from the game, focusing on two Runners (characters) codenamed Thief and Stealth. Giving us a little insight into what we can expect from the upcoming title.

NOW, the Marathon X account has begun dropping a series of cryptic teases. What does this all mean? It sure seems to line up with Grubb’s theory of, “more news next week!” How do you feel about the Marathon teases and are you excited for Bungies’ next title? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
