Bungie….. you naughty devils, a hot topic in the press here and now is their recent title in development has discredited an artist by using their art and not mentioning them one wink! That, my friends, is art theft.

In a recent controversy, artist 4nt1r34l on X (Twitter) accused Bungie, the studio behind the upcoming game Marathon, of using her 2017 poster designs in the game’s closed alpha without permission or credit. She shared side-by-side comparisons showing her artwork, including text like “Aleph,” directly lifted into Marathon’s environments. Bungie admitted a former employee included the art in a texture sheet without authorization, claiming the current team was unaware.
They’ve reached out to the artist and are reviewing assets to prevent future issues. This isn’t Bungie’s first plagiarism scandal, raising concerns about their art practices! Surely having a team like the big guys at Bungie should be double and triple checking art and the likes to make sure they aren’t making mistakes with people’s art. This for a large company such as Bungie is quite baffling and it’s increasingly putting their art team into doubt whether they can be original…. Or not.
Let us know what you think about this in the comments below. Do you think that this could cause major backlash for Bungie? Or do you believe that they will roll with the punches?
