BREAKING NEWS! GTA VI Release Date Has Been Revealed From Rockstar And Delayed To 2026

In an official statement from the Rockstar Newswire, Rockstar have actually revealed the release date of GTA VI, though it isn’t what fans were hoping to hear. BUT, some developers must feel a bit of relief for their title that will launch later this year in 2025.

The official statement reads as follows:

Hi everyone,

Grand Theft Auto VI is now set to release on May 26, 2026.

We are very sorry that this is later than you expected. The interest and excitement surrounding a new Grand Theft Auto has been truly humbling for our entire team. We want to thank you for your support and your patience as we work to finish the game.

With every game we have released, the goal has always been to try and exceed your expectations, and Grand Theft Auto VI is no exception. We hope you understand that we need this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve.

We look forward to sharing more information with you soon.

Sincerely,
Rockstar Games

Will Rockstar now release a second trailer in the future leading up to the May release? With the delay to May 26th, I’m shocked they revealed a date at all. The hype was built alone on the “WHEN” factor of many fans and developers not knowing just when the game would release. Rockstar, in fact, didn’t have to say anything at all, or did they? Take-Two parent company has many shareholders that would be looking towards their investments this year, and with the delay to next year, this is something that may have needed to be mentioned indeed. However, saying “next year” would also have sufficed.

This is certainly disappointing news for fans, but if this means, we’ll have a much better experience by this time next year. It will most definitely be worth the wait. This does mean good news for others, however. Many developers have been holding back their release dates of upcoming titles to not be swallowed up in the wake of the GTA VI release. Now, this should open up the floodgates for developers to feel a little bit of relief, knowing they won’t have to worry about when the juggernaut title will release and allow them to follow through with their plans and launch their game to better reception and not worry about players being in GTA VI.

I’m still in shock that Rockstar actually announced the release date for GTA VI. Was the delay to work on the next itteration of GTA VI’s Online component? Or for bug fixes and more polish? We’ve reached out to Rockstar for comment. We’ll keep you posted with any news on this delay and more. For now, let us know what you think of all this news in the comments below!
