Borderlands 4 has been on the tips of many peoples’ tongues for a little while now and there’s more to speak of yet! Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford spoke briefly about the huge changes being made to the titles’ co-op and loot systems ahead of launch. We are indeed hoping it doesn’t come out the gates and flop at the first hurdle much like its predecessor did (Borderlands 3).

Randy Pitchford spoke about the new features for the co-op system. Randy said, “Co-op is a religion to us” and that Borderlands 4 will be “best-in-class co-op by far”. Very, very big words to act upon and to try to reel back on if it’s not a feature people like. The revamp to the lobby where players will find it much easier to connect to others, and it now features drop-in and drop out, so players can get into lobbies and out of them much faster.
The next feature includes a fast travel to friends feature which will allow you to get to your friends at the drop of a hat if a party member gets lost or separated from the party! This sounds all well and good so far, along with the massive open world created by Gearbox, which brings us next to no loading times for Borderlands 4. This partnered with the co-op should give us more free rein throughout the world to explore or tackle bosses without much hassle.
The last two things to cover here are the dynamic level scaling, which is usually used in any basic RPG game. The enemies level up to you as you level up. However, as we speak about the co-op, the level scaling should balance out when you join friends if you are higher than them, in the pecking order or if you are a lower leveled player. The level scaling of enemies shouldn’t be too much of an issue here. Secondly, the loot system, as we know in the past, we have had loot thrown at us in reckless abandon, so much so, we have legendaries pouring out of our pockets! Legendaries have been reduced to make them feel more valuable and the loot chase has a much more natural progression, according to Creative associate Grant Keo. Last off, there will now be dedicated loot drops from bosses or mini-bosses within the game, making their defeat ever more satisfying!
As we once again hit the end of our article, let us know what you think in the comments below! Do you think Gearbox is going to hit the mark? Or are we looking at another blunder?
