With Black Panther being cancelled, according to one Respawn developer, morale has never been worse at the company after several games have been cancelled by publisher EA.
EA has taken to another round of layoffs this year and just yesterday completely scrapped its single-player Black Panther title and have shut down the developer Cliffhanger games in the process of their layoffs. With many people suffering from the recent cuts, many execs and developers have taken to their respective platforms, with one-Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s senior encounter designer, Patrick Wren saying “morale has been at an all-time low” in his recent social media post. “I can say that much”.

Respawn as we know, has been absolutely battered, with Apex Legends declining, Titanfall receiving kickbacks, and with more cancellations, morale is sure to be on the floor right now and has thus been confirmed by people working with the studio. As we know, EA has been pulling the scissors out of the draw and cutting games away from Respawn and making changes within. This is the root bane at Respawn, with the studio suffering three game cancellations now in 2 years.
However, for now Respawn is working on a third Star Wars Jedi game, which Cal Kestis actor Cameron Monaghan previously said will be “really cool” when it releases. Respawn needs a morale boost. As we previously mentioned, they are constantly being hit with bad after bad, so a well-needed title from them which would be well-received would be a dramatic morale boost.
What do you guys think? Do you think Respawn is on EA’s cut list? Or do you think that Respawn will survive and pardon the pun Respawn their credentials? Let us know down below!
