Ubisoft announced the Year 1 roadmap for Assassin’s Creed Shadows today, and we look to see what they are offering and what we can expect as we eagerly await in the shadows for new content!
Ubisoft Associate Game Director Simon and Dan, one of the community developers, spoke briefly about what we are expected to see in the upcoming updates which lie within the Year 1 roadmap. Simon started by saying “Greetings assassin” in a play by the namesake of the game series and continued by saying “Ubisoft and Partners give their heartfelt thanks to the players”. Dan then picked up and said “The launch of the game is only the beginning, and now we turn our eyes to the future”, which further doubles down on the guys at Ubisoft Quebec looking to solidify Shadows as a solid entry.

As we see above, the roadmap looks to have a plethora of story additions, including new free quests – one of which has a focus on the great Luis Frois, who gave us the First European description of Japan. More updates look to include quality of life updates, such as enhanced Parkour animations and a more honed feel to the free climbing of AC Shadows, an improved photo mode which gives us better ways to utilize our characters’ posing and facial movements to capture a moment in our gameplay.
Alongside the story drops and quality of life updates, we look forward to seeing a DLC expansion in the name of Claws of Awaji, which is, yes, a paid drop being a DLC. However, it will be available to those who pre-ordered the game as a bonus and comes as a paid DLC for those without. However, the team at Ubisoft Quebec are looking to expand the gameplay of AC shadows with a new expansion panning after the Epilogue of the main game.
What do we think of the year 1 road-map? Let us know in the comments below. Is it going to be a year to savor for the fans of Assassin’s Creed shadows, or will it be a let-down for the fans?
