Avast, ye matey! I call upon ye to dust off your peg leg, put on that trusty eye patch and make haste to the galleon, because with rumors heating up and the high seas thoroughly swirling, an Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake could be on deck soon! So, batten down the hatches, ready thy cutlass, and let us dive into what to expect and when to expect it!

You may recall, though it was many moons ago, that we spoke previously about the many potential releases coming for the Assassin’s Creed franchise based on insider leaks and the like. If you cannot remember or you’re new to the crew, check this out to jog your memory – Assassin’s Creed Roadmap and What To Get Excited For! – Everything-Nerd.
Now with the rumor mill turning and the word circulating about the potential Black Flag remake being all but confirmed, when should we expect it? Well, that question is best left for Ubisoft when they finally decide to make it public, but we’ll get to that in a moment. However, if we trust the initial reports about when the game was supposedly slated for release, it’s meant to launch around late 2025. However, with the knowledge that Assassin’s Creed Shadows got delayed, it seems as though the rest of the purported roadmap may get pushed back a bit.

Regardless, it seems likely that we may still have an actual announcement coming our way, or at least some form of tease to update eager fans. I’d be happy with just a brief video of some beloved characters sailing by in updated graphics with a familiar sea shanty being sung in the background. Even if the remake ends up pushed back into 2026, which is beginning to seem more likely, the actual reveal window becomes far easier to pinpoint.
If we look to actual historical fact for a possible reveal here, Ubisoft are confirmed to be attending Gamescom 2025, which means Assassin’s Creed faithful franchise fans are justified in expecting the reveal to happen then. This would be the most opportune time to reveal the highly anticipated title, which has the potential of being one of the more popular and financially successful releases in the whole of the franchise!
It is certain however that Ubisoft are meant to showcase Anno 117 : Pax Romana, with that said, what a cool surprise for fans if they dropped a surprise Black Flag teaser after that. Utilizing Gamescom for something like this would be a bold and likely very popular move for Ubisoft, and in all likelihood would give them a lot of excitement leading up to that supposed release window of late 2025 to early 2026.

Moving on to the next possible event in which Ubisoft could work their magic and generate an absolute power move would be The Game Awards 2025. This would be the ultimate reveal befitting of a strong Assassin’s Creed game, this would be the crème de la crème honestly. However, if the game was revealed here, it all-but guarantees that the delays have pushed our dear friend Edward Kenway into 2026. Ubisoft could recapture some admiration from its fans with a truly beautiful reveal at The Game Awards, and it would certainly earn a roar of excitement from the many diehards of the series.
While these two events would make the most sense for a Black Flag reveal, Ubisoft could tease the title in an upcoming Ubisoft Forward event in 2026, which clearly isn’t the ideal outcome, however this would indeed keep speculation tense. This is not really any fault of Ubisoft, as they seem to have stuck to a tightlipped “no comment” policy regarding their current projects. Regardless of all the noise, it is getting more and more likely that we could see an Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake reveal dropping into the ocean of excitement at some point, which would absolutely dominate the news… at least until something else cool happens.
