Gamers as a whole tend to be steering clear of large gaming websites along with a slew of reviewers and influencers. There is zero trust and who can blame us? IGN, the queen of 7’s have utterly destroyed their once reputable company. Kotaku will gaslight normal gamers in order to spread outrage for website clicks, zero integrity. Influencers I know personally and ones I have witnessed online, will sell their score for some free swag or the odd paid trip. If they tell you this does not happen, they are lying to you.
Allow me to highlight an area where you will find out how truly horrendous these influencers are. Many of these influencers and faux journalists are more interested in virtue signaling than reviewing a game based on its merits. The sheer amount of them that have said “Dragon Age Veilguard is a once in a generation game”. A game that is truly beautiful but has little to no soul and is beyond basic. Gone is the witty banter between characters and gone is the grim dark fantasy that we all knew and once loved. We have some of the worst companions in gaming. There is nothing even close to a well written character like Alistair, Morrigan (she returns but good god her writing is dull) and even Shale a living Golem. Who literally had more personality than almost everyone in this game.
Let’s have a little giggle at the Canadian Game awards. They awarded Dragon Age Veilguard with ‘most innovative’. I truly wonder do these people actually play games or just talk about them? The game has some of the most dull combat I have ever seen. But maybe just maybe, a dull game for dull people. I mean if you stood in a room with some of these people you would want to blow your brains out after 5 mins. As they stand in a closed circle very reminiscent of a herd of gazelles slowly jerking each other off. Also event organizers writing articles about how amazing the event was, without highlighting their personal connection. Come on Mobile Syrup, bit of integrity! Seemingly that is zero just like the award show. All it takes to be an amazing game is pronouns and gender identity confusion. No need for well written characters or innovative combat anymore.
Now everyone is entitled to their own opinion, just like I am. But there is something seriously wrong when everyone is calling a legitimately bad game a GOTY contender. Applauding a game that had such a categoric failure as to be heavily discounted on all stores shortly after release, was added to Ps plus monthly games (LOL) along with an estimated 50 workers released or moved on to other projects. Lets be frank, the game was developed by a bunch of people who were hired based on what colour hair they had or what their sexual orientation was. A basis on merits went out the window along with their meds.

Lets use Star Wars outlaws, a fun but problematic game. Many of these influencers/journalists praised this game during the lead up to launch. But here’s where it gets funny… These people waited for a few weeks maybe even a month to start dismantling the game down to what they did not enjoy. Far from the eagle eye of their PR reps. Once again breaking the trust of their readers and/or followers.
Many gamers as a whole are moving away from these generic sites and influencers and shifting towards more honest people. Can you blame them?
If you were offended by this article, you are part of the problem and I would highly suggest you go hug that stuffed unicorn you hide under your bed.
